Stuart Howitt

Art cannot change the world, but maybe, if we can engage with a work of art in a way that connects us to our mind, body and senses it may spur thinking, engagement and maybe even action. This is what inspires me to create; the hope that my work will connect with someone in some profound way to make a small difference.

My paintings take a critical view of current social, technological and cultural issues and while it doesn’t offer any answers, it re-presents the world around me in a way which questions contemporary life and our current trajectory.

I gained a diploma in portrait painting at Heatherleys School of Art and went on to achieve an MA in fine art from UAL: Chelsea, London. My work has been widely exhibited in London and further around the UK. My paintings reside in collections around the world.
